Each property listed has a reference number at the top for easy identification and it is advisable to make a note of the numbers of property you like the look of for easy reference later.
- under country categories
- in regional groupings (see maps for reference)
- according to size of property (no. of bedrooms), in increasing order.
At the bottom of each advertisement, you will see the contact details, usually a phone number and/or e-mail address or fax of the owner. When contacting the owner, mention our website, give your own e-mail address and/or phone number or fax and clearly state which property you are interested in, for how many people and the dates you require it for. The owner will respond as soon as he/she can, but bear in mind that they may be away for a few days and be unable to reply immediately. If you hear nothing after a few days, we suggest you telephone them. Should you have any special requirements or needs, please mention these at this stage, together with any queries you may have or any other information you need to know.
Please mention to advertisers that you have seen their property on our website.
Each owner will have their own preferred booking methods, but you can usually expect to pay a deposit of between 10% - 50% of the total rental, payable by cheque or bank transfer. A written receipt of any deposit paid should always be sent by the owner by letter or e-mail. The balance is usually payable around 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday and sometimes at this stage a breakages deposit may also be requested, to be refunded at the end of the holiday, less any charge for breakages, together with any metered charges for water, electricity and gas if it was made clear that these were not included in the rental.
Please check (and request written notice of) cancellation terms with the owner at the time of booking; deposits are often non-refundable although this could depend on the amount of curtailment notice given, with a sliding scale of charges often applied.
Check that you have clear details of how to find the property, if possible a detailed map and directions. These are normally sent on payment of the balance. The key may also be posted to you or there may be someone at the property, the owner themselves or a relative, friend or neighbour to personally welcome you on arrival. In the case of the latter, make sure you are given a contact telephone number of the person who is to greet you so that you can alert them should your arrival be delayed.
Owners should leave a contact telephone number at the property to enable you to contact either themselves directly or a locally-residing friend or neighbour to enable you to report any difficulties you may have or any faults or equipment breakdowns, etc. Any malfunction should be reported immediately, thus giving the owner the opportunity of remedying the situation in order to minimise any inconvenience to you and ensure that you have an enjoyable, stress-free stay! Please do not wait until you get home to complain about something which clearly warrants attention and which could spoil your holiday pleasure.
We sincerely hope you find our website very helpful and easy to use, enabling you to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing holiday at the property of your choice. We would welcome (via our e-mail) your comments on the site and any feedback, positive and negative, on the properties and regions that you sample, together with any suggestions you may have as to how we could continue to improve the service we offer.
